About Lamar “Fitz”

I started watching my Dad make ribs for gathering with friends and family. He was also the one to teach me how to cook. As he showed me more my passion for food grew. After being stationed and “soon to be” retiring in Maryland, I started honing my craft and expanding my knowledge of “rolling BBQ smoke.” And there is something about BBQ that brings people together in a special way…That “mmm mmm hmmm” or the “itis” that comes from good food.

So after much persuasion and arm twisting from friends and family, I started Meat Fitz in 2022. I don’t do it to be rich. I do it because people should get a chance to enjoy food as much as I do, especially BBQ. People, especially in Maryland deserve “the itis” that comes from Texas oak smoked brisket, or the sweet taste of Carolina pork. I just hope I can help provide that.
